What happens when I use a prepaid international calling card on a cellphone?

I have Verizon wireless. And I bought a prepaid international calling card to call my boyfriend who is in England at the moment. I use it on my home phone. But if I used it on my cell phone would it cost extra money on my bill or would it just deduct my minutes? Help please! Thanks. xx
