What happens to sports officials when they are obviously pulling for one team over

another?eg Phil Cuzzi? I ask because the blown call by Cuzzi was so blatantly obvious, he must have been pulling for the Yankees. He perhaps has some money riding on the game or series. Maybe he is just a Yankee fan. I play softball and we have one ump, he is behind the plate, and they don't even miss calls that are tougher than that.He was 20 ft away, positioned right on the line, looking right at the play, yet he;1) misses the ball going off the fielder's glove in fair territory, which would have made it fair anyway.2)the ball lands approximately a foot from the clearly marked white line in fair territory. Put all this together and it is obvious something is going on here. Is the mob paying this guy to swing things the Yankees' way. Come on! If you're going to blow a call make it something a little tougher than that. I am pulling for the Yankees myself. Just so you know I'm not just some pissed off hater. And thank you yahoo for the additional question mark there.

I think baseball should have a coach's challenge. Managers should be able to throw out a red flag and have umpires view the tapes. If the manager doesn't get his wish then, well in the NFL you lose a time out but maybe in baseball you lose an out?

Cuzzi screwed up badly, sure, but all it did was make up for all the phantom strikes that home plate umpire Chuck Meriweather called that completely messed up the Yankees offensive rhythm. You can see that earlier in the game, several pitches that weren't even close to the strike zone called strikes turned hitter's counts into pitcher's count. Then, later in the game, the normally patient Yankees hitters started swinging at pitches out of the strike zone, which surely costed them a run or three. By the way, the Twins hitters did not seem to get those high and outside pitches called strikes. Because of that, I'm not apologizing from Cuzzi's mistake.

Yes he missed the call but if the Twins don't give up a 2 run homer in the 9th you're not talking about this. I would like to see the Twins win the series but they had plenty of chances to win the game.

You are very sick. Do you not realize that all games are scrutinized by the Commissioner's Office, and the slightest hint of bias would get an umpire fired? Also, if an umpire would be caught betting on baseball (they're not Pete Rose), he would not only be fired, but prosecuted as well.

Umpires, believe it or not, are human, and make mistakes. I'll bet you've made some 'doozies' in your day. The big difference is, millions of people see the umpire's, few, if any see your's.

And has any batter hit 1.000 for a complete season? If a baseball player gets a hit only 30% of the time, he's a candidate for the Hall of Fame. Has any pitcher gone a complete season without allowing an earned run?

I feel bad about the calll but so does Cuzzi. I think he didn't have the right view of the ball. They can't see what we see and I'm thinking maybe they should it would sure help in situations like this.
