this is for my friend i just want to be reassured before he leaves. he plans to leave for the army very soon but wont tell me his exact leave date. the reason that im saying this is because out of the 7 years that ive known him since the 8th grade not once has he ever worked out since he decided he was going to the army and that was like 2 weeks ago. In high school we had P.E. he never worked out all he would do is stand by the fence and do nothing, and pretty much all of high school his life was like that no activities what so ever besides video games and math. Plus he admits that he has bad asthma but doesn't carry an inhaler, i know i can't change his mind, but what are his chances of surviving in there and do you think he'll make it or.....?

also he realizes what he's getting into but not the full aspect of it, when i tell him that its gonna be hard he says that he knows so easily, i myself was planning to go with him but he wants to do this alone, so i will go to the air force if not navy.

got a brother in the navy SEAL:)

Ok...Well....

So he wasn't motivated to "play along" In gym class. The Army isnt' gym class. They will make him play along. They will get him into shape.

If he doesn't carry an inhaler that tells me the asthma isn't that bad.

You'd be surprised what they can do in two months.... I'm sure he will pass the PT test just fine... The PT test really isn't all that crazy. They have reasonable standards.

I joined the Army at 30 years old...after a LIFETIME of non-activity, and I passed with flying colors.

We had a guy we called 'Special K' in BCT and when he came in I swear to you this kid couldn't do a single push-up his first PT test. But he got motivated and by the end of the cycle that guy did 60 in 2 minutes.
It's all about what he puts into it. BCT is 90% mental, he'll get smoked enough to pass the damn thing.

After all that Great Army training, he will pass that P.T. Test. He will become a soldier. He will be tested, He will be drilled, & he will overcome...
