PLEASEE!!!? i got caught 2 months ago my court date is in 2 hours im 14 in los angeles i lost my ticket and i cant get another one because the cop at my school shows up near lunch and by then i wont be able to go to court so i was wondering wat would happen if i didnt go.. my friend said his brother diidnt go and nothing happened to him..so what do i do? PLEASE ANSWER
also when i meant i lost my ticket i mean like i really lost it in my house i dont know the addreess number or room for court

If you don't go, a bench warrant will be sworn out on you. Bench warrants to not expire. If they fail to serve you personally, some day you will be pulled over for speeding or a broken headlight, and they will run you for warrants. At that time they will arrest you and hold you until you appear.

So much easier to get it out of the way now. Go to court.

Your friend lied. You better go or else it's going to make the situation worse. They will have a bench warrant out for your arrest. Good luck.

I dont care what happened to your friend, maybe he was just lucky, but you NEVER blow off a court hearing. NEVER. It only compounds your problems. I dont know what you mean by lost your ticket. Just show up at the hearing and be done with it. Or, if this ticket thing matters and really does not allow you to show up, CALL THE CLERK OF COURT or the Judges chambers. Explain the problem and chances are they will reschedule. But dont just do nothing here. You will wish you had never done it in that manner. Your friend might have been lucky, who knows. But you dont risk it. You dont know the details of your friends case. This is YOUR case and you need to tend to it. You will probably only get probation or comm service, but if you dont show up or call, chances are you are really going to be in trouble. Get going....do something....NOW.

The court can issue a warrant for your arrest. Do not believe everything that you hear. Your friend's brother may still be arrested on the charge. Because he did not attend court does not mean the charge was dismissed.

They will issue a bench warrant for you. They are not going to hunt you down to arrest you, but if you get picked up for anything else, they will arrest you for the warrant. This could include just getting stopped for a burned out tail light (when you start driving), or any other minor offense.

Your friend probably has a bench warrant on him now, and he has just not been picked up for anything else.

.

The other posters have it right, you will eventually get nailed and then you have two offenses.

I wish School age children avoided all drugs including alcohol. tobacco and illegal drugs. Make it to graduation and 18 before you begin experimenting or using.
