If you filed the restraint, you shouldn't get in trouble, but if you don't show up in court, they may throw it out. You may be able to drop the charges, BUT, the state may pick up the case. He is not worth your time..

In cases of assault (or any other violent encounter) you are just a witness even if you are the victim. Take the case of singer Rhianna & Chris Brown for example, once the police got involved she was not allowed to back off even when she started dating Chris again.

If she had refuse to cooperate she could have faced obstructing of justice charges.

You are only allowed to back off if you the Police find out you lied on since the beginning....BUT of course you would have to face criminal charges for filing a false police report.

The Restraining order is for you for your protection he is not allowed to contact you and or if he see's you he must walk away.
If you don't show up to court (as long as your not court ordered) nothing would happen to you. The Judge may drop the charges or He/She may still prosecute him from the city charges. As far as getting a court date the depends on the county court room and Judge you get 2 weeks - a few months. Im not an expert thought if I were you I would find a probono lawyer and ask.

If you drop the charges, the state will pick up the charges. If you are subpoenaed to come to court and you do not, you could be charged with contempt of court and you too could be put in jail and charged. You and him could get in trouble if you speak to each other with a restraining order.

I suggest next time he beats your ass, do not call the police!!! He just waisted the police's time, court's time, tax payers money, etc., because in the 'heat of the moment', you got pissed and wanted him to get in trouble.
