What happens after boot camp?

For the army it is not boot camp, it is basic training for the army. Get it right. You do BASIC TRAINING then go to AIT then your first duty station which you found out half way through your training where you will go
 
I am now a high school student looking to join the army. i know about enlisting and picking your job and stuff. but what happens after boot camp? I've heard of AIT and a bunch of other capital letter that i dont know what they mean. can someone help me in detail of what happens after boot camp? Also, if you have served in the military or are planning on it, please include that, what rank you were, if you liked it, and any suggestions you might have. thank you!
