What happened to the 80s new wave bands?

They all seemed to disappear in the 90s. A-Ha, U2, Blondie, The Erythmics, When In Rome, Eddy Grant, Devo, Men At Work, Simply Red, The Police, The Romantics, Tears For Fears, Information Society, Paul McCartney, Poison, Billy Idol, and etc. It's just so sad, they just stopped in the 90s... as if they never existed... never played on the radio till like '03.
