what happened to SCL?

I like how the administration fights on despite the usefulness and activity on the site. It's a shame that they can't hit it right, but after ~3 years they might be better off renaming, reskinning, and re-launching a new 0day.

After a couple years you'll generally know if the site has made it or if it's just hanging on for whatever unknown reason. Peerportal is another site that comes to mind, which gets little snatches, but is kept alive by a small core userbase which donates regularly.

Word. Pretty OK design, but who cares about design (well I guess some people do). What it comes down to is there are no leechers and pretty much no activity at all. Whats the point?

I just read that and I can't believe it. :(

Maybe not the kind of official announement people were hoping for, but everyone have atleast been informed about the situation from the captains' point of view now.
From that log, you will understand why there have been no updates from us during the past weeks.

The problem they had/have is like a few have mentioned, they went from one minute being a site hard to get into, to open its doors to pretty much anyone. So when the new members came in, they weren't inclined to download a whole lot, because they wanted to say they have a 1337 ratio on a 1337 tracker.

They've tried to get more people downloading but it just doesn't seem to be working. I blame seed-boxes for this. Seed-boxes are great when you've got hundreds hitting a new torrent at one time, but when you've only got 10 or 20, or usually much less in ScL's case, seedboxes are more of a hindrance as it's impossible to give back if you;re one of the few jumping on a new torrent. It's a viscous circle.

It's certainly not the first time they have gone down like this, hopefully they'll be back up. Maybe it doesn't have loads of peers but it's a decent site, and not there fault they didn't live up to the 'Hype'... just out of curiosity... did ScL create the hype themselves, or was it bestowed upon them because they were a private tracker who limited their member?

Either way, I hope it doesn't go down, too many communities have been lost lately...

yes they did, when they went online they even ban ppl who mentioned their site on public ect
not interested since its too secret for me
