What happend to my Toyota tercel Can ANyone help!? smoke out exhaust pipe (white smoke)?

My 93 toyota tercel this morning was shaking on me and i thought maybe it did not have any oil so i put some in and after driving it some more it started heating up so i stoped, let it cool of and checked the radiator for water and i put some in their and then turned it on and just heka smoked started coming out the exhaust pipe and then drove it and drove it and decided to not drive it any more and i changed the oil and now it just turns on whenever it wants! dont know what it is or what happend to it ! if anyone has any idea plz help and if it something bad how much to fix? thank you
