I live in El Paso tx. I am about 2 hours from the mtns in new mexico where there are mtn lions, bobcats, coyote, black bear and javalina. I have a ccl/ccw. and own several handguns. I have read most ballistic reports to help select the proper grain and feel comfortable shooting calibers from 22lr to 44 mag(I have shot these and most calibers in between) I was curious what everyone thought about a glock 10mm or 357 sig.. both are great penetrators. I am leaning towards a semiauto so i have more rounds if "it" hits the fan. in place of the revolvers 6(or 5). I think i would carry this weapon in my daily routine sometimes. just to mix it up. I own pistols in 22lr, 32 auto, 380auto, 38 special, 357 magnum, 9mm and 40cal. and shoot about every 2 weeks using between 5- 20 rounds in each gun to keep sharp. I am also looking foreward to the "what if's" what if the violance in juarez spills over in to el paso. and i need something to penetrate a car door?( this is all just proactive thinking on my part, and i would hope i could see it coming and get away before i hear the shots ring out at walmarts parking lot and hunker down having drawn my weapon in case the cartel making the hit decide to take out whitnesses, I'll be ready to defend myself till the threat is gone and instead of hideing under my vehicle while they hose the cars around me down I could return enopugh firepower to penetrate and flee). I now others will say to not get involved, leve it for the cops, and the cops might shoot you thining you are one of the bad guys, I just want to be ready.
