what guitar to get?

I am looking to get learn to play guitar and was wondering what kind of guitar would be good for a beginner? I would like to play anything from Pink Floyd to Tool. What would be a good guitar that is descent and below $300? Also if you could suggest an amp that would be great. Thanks.

Wait, so the guitar can be up to $300 or both amp and guitar and stand and amp wire and tuner and etc.

Look around on ebay for some epiphones. I prefer them over squire.

If you wanna maybe go for something at 400 bucks, the Fender Telecaster is an awesome guitar to start out on.
