What genre fiction ideas do you want to see Shonen-ized in future manga?

Inspired by Scirel's thread, I decided to make one of my own.

One of the things I like about boys' manga is that they tend to take some element from genre fiction, mix in some superheroics and wrap it around a personal quest story and come up with something new. It's been done with everything from pirates (One Piece), to ninja (Naruto) to western gunslingers (Gun Blaze West) to ghosts (Shaman King, Bleach) to detectives (Case Closed) and a whole bunch of others. But what bit of genre fiction would you like to see get the shonen manga treatment.

Personally, I'd like to see someone do something interesting with the medeival romance genre. Like, knights in armor and damsels in distress and all that.

You know, with all the basketball, baseball and football manga around, no one seems to have time for the winter sports. What about a shounen story about a kid who wants to be the greatest snowboarder/skiier ever?

Also, since Yakitake Ja-pan did so well, take it to the next level with a full-on cooking shounen tournament manga. Some kid has amazing cooking skills and wants to prove to his family that cooking is a worthy talent. So he enters tournament after tournament and teams up/meets with various characters. Of course, his goal is some d-bag kid who's his rival/friend (or just rival) who's already some sort of super-genius. Throw in a cute girl for fanservice (and have her actually do something. One of the issues I had with Yakitake Ja-pan was that Tsukino did exposition and barely any baking) and you've got a standard shounen.

Also in the vein of Hikaru no Go and Akagi...Chess...the shounen manga!
"Now Ouri-kun, you have no way to counter my ultimate corabo! Rook Roulette!" (Lightning flashes and epic moving of pieces)
"I won't lose!"
"NANI!!!??"
"You fell into my trap!"
"(insert long expostionary dialogue about how he countered his technique. Insert of "That's impossible!" is necessary."
"Check-u-mato!" (King is taken in over-the-top fashion)
"NOOOOO!!!"

Or something like that

Offense? Why would I take offense?

Look, I'm not looking for reccomendations. That's not the intent of this thread. I just wanted to create a cool, fun idea/brainstorm-y thread like Scirel's. Come on. Think. Come up with cool ideas. Play along.

And I had another post in this thread. I don't know what happened to it.

I know what you mean, garfield, in seeing more sports getting the shonen treatment. I didn't know there was a shonen hockey manga called "Go Ahead!" and was written by the manga-ka of "Whistle!" until I was researching about Claymore and Monthly Jump. It's also 4 volumes long. As a hockey fan, I'm excited about this concept.

Here are some other things I want to get the Shonen treatment if they haven't already:

-auto racing. No drifting series like Initial D. I'm talking Formula 1, Moto GP, Indy Car Series, and NASCAR. That's right, I said NASCAR in terms of getting the shonen treatment. It would be really cool to see shonen archetypes in the world of autosports, especially since NASCAR has competitors who can't even drink like Joey Lagano, who won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the age of 19.

-action/extreme sports. BMX, Skateboarding, and Aggressive Inline skating - which is still popular in Asia. I have never seen them get the shonen treatment.

-poker. Yes, poker. I have no clue as to whether to make this as serious as possible or make it as crazy with magical powers, ghosts, and mega-extreme stare-downs.

-mixed martial arts. We have shonen boxing. We have shonen wrestling. Why not a shonen series based around MMA? Sure, you can call DB/DBZ a MMA manga. But, with UFC's popularity on the rise, why not take advantage and make the Ultimate Muscle of MMA?

-dodgeball and kickball. Unless someone tells me otherwise, I have never seen two of my childhood pastimes get shonen-ized.

And, I second a good Coming-of-age shonen title. Also, I have a feeling something like Total Drama Island/Total Drama Action can be pulled off as a SHonen title.

You never know. After doing a little research, I found out there are more sport manga out there than I thought. I mean, I never knew there was manga for golf or cycling, but then I heard about Dan Doh! and Over Drive.

It would be interesting to see a card game manga that was not about magical creatures and stuff. I always thought it would actually be very funny to make a show about a basic children's card game like Go Fish but make it really overdramatic like Yu-Gi-Oh!
