What gauge wiring should I use for my car audio system?

I'm gonna have 2- 5X7" door speakers, 2- 6X8" door speakers, and 2- 12" subs. Is 8 gauge wiring going to do the trick or do I absolutely NEED 4 gauge?
 
its hard to tell unless you know the rms valueof your system. if your running 1200 watts rms then you should use 4 gauge but you can use 8 gauge.
 
It depends on your amp. Like if you buy a whole packet, it'll tell you the gage wire and how many watts it can have. I have a 1400 watt amp and only had to use 4 gage. So 8 should be fine for you.
 
id use 4 gauge, bigger the better

really depends on wattage of the amps, if your going over 500 total RMS watts then 4g and 1000+ watts would require 0g wire.
