What foods should you not eat when you're working out hard to be fit?

Okay, so me and a friend started working out HARD since monday of this week. We sit in the saune for about 20mins - 30mins straight, and work out (abs, legs, arms) for an hour and a half. I know we burn at least 300-500 calories when working out and probably quite a few more in the sauna.
Lately though, I've been having quite a big appetite in the morning. Last morning I ate a pancake with probably 3 tspns of syrup along with chicken noodle soup a few minutes later. Today I ate two waffles with 2 tbspns of syrup and a mini pig in a blanket. We work out the same amount twice a day. Is it okay to eat stuff like that while trying to get fit, or should I completely give up sweet things? Keep in mind though, I only drink water and I don't eat at night, if I do, it's just pretzels or low-fat yogurt. It's usually in the mornings when I grave this. Please any advice on what not to and what TO eat? Thank you! Also, I'm 18 years old, 5'1 or 2, and weigh 122. I don't know if that helps. I'm not fat, or too skinny, basically all I want to do is tone my body.

[sorry for the short-essay]
