What flash unit should I be looking for to use with an older manual Minolta SR-7?

Since there are no contacts on the hot shoe it must use an old style flash with a cord or something. I have been looking for months but I haven't been able to find any info on this type of flash anywhere. I appreciate any help.

Just buy a Vivitar 283. They're easy to find on eBay. If you can find one with the original bracket and Remote Sensor buy it. The Remote Sensor detaches from the flash and can then be mounted on the cold shoe so regardless of where the flash unit is pointed the sensor is facing your subject.

I bought my 283 in Feb. of 1976 and still use it occasionally.
