what fish should i buy?

OK so i was just wondering what kind of fish i should buy i was doing a little research on feeder goldfish when i noticed on site saying that these fish are sold for so cheap because they are usually sick. so i was wondering if i should go ahead and buy these kind of fish or is there any other kind of fish that i could find really cheap. like maybe less that a dollar for each.
 
What size tank do you have? Size filter? And do you plan to heat the water or not?

With goldfish you don't need to heat their water, but they're very messy. And yes, they are sick a lot of the time, but that's why you're supposed to pick out healthy-looking ones and quarantine them and monitor them for any signs of illness.
 
I wouldn't say they are usually sick...they are usually overstocked and fed as feeder goldfish (See: bred for profit, not good genetics.) I've known people who kept feeder goldfish for many years... I had one that was quite large that my friend kept in her kitchen for years.

At the worst- you try it, it doesn't work out, and you get some other kind of fish that works better for you.
