What fish can be caught in the Santa Monica sea region?

Say I have a sailboat and I want to catch Tuna or Salmon. How far would I have to go out into the sea from santa monica, and catch them?

If very far to catch those particular fish, what can be caught in the everyday sailing radius?
 
the only fishys most people catch are albacore, abalone and some species of bottom feeding rock cod. most is safe to ingest but you have to be weary of any area that is more polluted than your average cesspool. you have to go about a mile off shore for any decent fishing but there are people that fish off the pier or along the coast
If you catch a salmon it would almost be a first. they tend to migrate closer to the pacific northwest to alaska
