because i want to get a fish bowl for my room and get a cute fish.
i know Betas or Siamese fighting fish are labyrinth breathers but i was wonder what my other options were?

Labyrinth fish are fish that breathe air from the surface. However, this doesn't mean that you can keep them in a small bowl.

A Betta needs a minimum of a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and heater (5 gallons is preferred, but 2.5 is the absolute minimum).

There's also Gouramis, but they need much larger tanks than bowls.

If you're looking for a fish to house in bowls, try a couple hundred of these: http://bestuff.com/images/images_of_stuff/210x600/pepperidge-farm-goldfish-crackers-17474.jpg

no fish should live in a bowl.

Your option is goldfish crackers. Period. Or Swedish Fish candies.

You are more than likely not going to get any advice here, as the answerers generally care about fish.

if you must keep a fish in a bowl a betta IS your only option. But it's just...cruel to them.

all bettas, all gourami, and paradise fish would be the most common

climbing perch is a less common type

Most of these should have a heater and at least a 5 gallon tank, or larger.

Just because something is a labyrinth breeder doesn't mean you can keep it in a bowl... Even bettas shouldn't be kept in bowls. Leopard Ctenopomas are labyrinth breathers, but they get 7 inches long and they're predatory. Have fun with that in a bowl. Bowls are for soup, aquariums are for fish. Now on to the question.

Anything in the family Anabantidae is a labyrinth breather. Most commonly: Bettas, Gouramis, and Paradise fish.

Get a 5 gallon tank, a little heater and filter, and buy yourself a NICE halfmoon betta off of aquabid.com. Beats all those faded looking, 2 year old, veil tails from wal-mart.

Zootycoonmaster wins.

Bowls aren't good places for any fish, including bettas. Just because a fish is a labyrinth breather doesn't mean it doesn't need a proper tank.

a bowl sounds good keep in mind this is a beta and they can spend there whole live in a oxen hoof print and they have in the wild but betas will jump so a critter keeper makes it escape proof and and get a couple plants and your good
