what first bike would you choose? cruisers help?

Hello im from Australia just got my Learners was wondering which out of these would people rate better or buy?

Kawasaki VN250 Eliminator
suzuki intruder VL250
yamaha virago XV250
Honda Rebel 250

also was thinking maybe a CB250 they are cheap and basic main thing for me is cost, but i want reliability,
Id love to have a Hyosung GV650 or a honda shadow VT400 but they are a bit pricey and for a learner bike i just dont need it.

So which bike would you choose? any i have not named that i should look at? and any other info be great thanks :)
 
If I were you i would get a small engined bike as a 125cc to start with.Elsewhere its up to you
 
congrats on your permit,get a bike you can afford to maintain and feels comfortable to sit on,your only going to keep it for a short time anyways,maybe a year,so get something that you can re-sell
 
Go for the Hyosung. Its an awesome bike and you should be able to pick up a decent priced second hand one. Mine is 3 years old. gets ridden in all weathers and still looks as good as the day I bought it, though I do keep it clean and cover the chrome in ACF50 during winter months to protect from salt damage.
 
Cruisers are the worst performing bike. The honda rebel gets about 16hp while the same size cb gets 20hp. You should think about handling and performance and forget about looking like 'the Fonz'. Personally I would be looking at a dual sport in that size, would be lots of fun off road and would be just as useful in town.
