What films do you think should've been left alone without sequels?

I have to agree with a few others on here and say that most of the films that have spawned sequels should just not have bothered. 99% of the time they've been bloody awful. I'm all for sequels if they're done with care however these days they just cram it full with CGI and too many characters and think we'll lap it up. It doesn't work. Everyone I know hated Spiderman 3, Transformers 2, Indiana Jones 4 etc. Just absolute abominations and these could have been good films if they'd actually put as much effort into a sodding story!

I'm actually quite worried about Iron Man 2. Loved the first however have recently saw the trailer for the sequel and, while it looks great, it looks like it could be a case of Spiderman 3 all over again! Hopefully not though

I entered this thread to mention The Matrix trilogy. The first was excellent, the second I can forgive because of the focus on action and big chase scenes.. But the third - damn, I fell asleep in the cinema.

I forgot Indiana Jones 4.

As if 2 and 3 weren't bad enough they seemed intent on destroying the character completely.

It looked like it was filmed in a month and was fatally flawed.
The only thing they can find to pull him out of the swamp is a snake and in the next scene you can clearly see that he still has his whip.

I like sequels. (Including Matrix 2, Final Destination 2, Terminator 2, Hellraiser 2, Aliens, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Saw 2.)

An exception is Candyman 2. Plus most second sequels. I reckon its usually the third film in a series that is rubbish, made for money while the original talent has moved on.

Jaws.

Making a sequel was completely unnecessary. The chances of the same US town (and family) facing a shark, which again results in multiple deaths, was totally unbelievable.

Beverly Hills Cop.

The original was a predictable and by-the-numbers story, but turned into a classic due to some perfect casting. The story was wrapped up perfectly, and it was fairly doubtful that Axel would socialize with the LA cops in the future, nevermind find himself in Beverly Hills on another crime case.

Psycho

Sequel was pretty decent, but naturally inferior to the landmark classic.Did anybody really believe Norman would be let out, nevermind live in the same house again?
At the end of the day,a shameless cash-in on the lucrative slasher craze,at the expense of a legend.

Me too. The original film was great but I feel it's "uniqueness" was ruined by the overhyped, action-packed sequels. Actually I have not watched the second film, only first and third, but probably saw most of it in the many trailers!

I'm not a fan of sequels

In fact there are only two sequels I perfered to the first and they are Shrek and Toy Story :p

Having said that I am really looking forward to Sex and the City 2, although to be fair I do see that as a very very long episode to the series and not a movie as such :D

Spiderman 3 I thought was a special effects formula waste of space....

X years earlier, from the trailer i was worried Spiderman 2 was going to be this, but liked it alot. SM 3 was what i thought SM 2 was going to be

the Mummy series i can't work out. They are just CG candy :p

Lost boys the tribe was just aweful, Agree with the Matix comments.
The original halloween sequels, the first was a masterpiece, Don't get me started on the remake  lol
