What films are a "must have" on Blu-Ray?

I'm just about to buy a Blu-Ray player from Blockbusters and will get the following 6 films free, Mamma Mia, Hancock, Wall.e, Iron Man, Batman Returns and Casino Royale.

Has anyone any advice on what other films are a must have when purchasing a Blu-Ray player?

Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing that probably more than the kiRAB will be! I'm thinking about buying I Am Legend today when I buy the player as I've got to "send off" for the other films and I'll need something to watch in the mean time.
Any thoughts anyone?

Just because it's on BluRay doesn't mean it's great, I was reading the reviews of Terminator 2 and they were pretty scathing of the quality.

Same farce as DVD, stick any old copy on there and make money.

Amazon is a good place for reviews and getting info on them.:)

I generally go for the big special effects blockbusters like ironman, the hulk, etc but some are dodgy as mentioned above.

I am looking forward to The Dark Knight and Hellboy 2.

Kung Fu Panda is brilliant.

Quite honestly,I have not been totally blown away by Blu Ray as I thought I would. For a lot of the films I've watched,I can not tell any major difference than compared to standard dvd.Into The Blue was definitely the best picture I've seen, and it helped to have all those gratuitous shots of Jessica Alba's beautiful ass swimming underwater!!:D

The last Blu Ray I saw was The Fly,which I have on standard dvd.I had both my standard and the Blu Ray playing at the same time, flicking between them and pausing occasionally at the same point in the film, but seriously could not see any major improvement.

Admittedly,my tv is 720p max,and I watch the discs upscaled to 1080i.If anyone has upgraded their set from one to the other, did you notice a marked improvement in picture quality?

I haven't yet seen any animation or documentaries though, which are supposed to show just how good the format is.

From my fairly limited experience of Blu Ray,Into The Blue would be a worthy disc to show off your new kit. It's worth it just to see Jessica Alba's kit!;)

Damn straight. Hell of a good film, made gorgeous by Blu-Ray.

Mental. Watch it. I'll bet it's the subtitles that have put you off. Don't let that be the reason for the delay. There's more action than talking. It's a terrific film.

Best Blu-Rays for me are Terminator 2, Casino Royale, Apocalypto, Beowulf (from facking Landon! :D) and Iron Man.

I also get the impression The Dark Knight won't look bad.

I think Terminator 2 looks pretty fantastic in BluRay, maybe it's not as good as it could have been if there have been bad reviews, but I wasn't disappointed.

A Clockwork Orange blew me away, but I was used to watching it on an old video tape :D Sometimes older films don't work so well - Enter The Dragon didn't look any better than DVD.

We got Casino Royale with the ps3, that also looked amazing, esp the title credits.

Not seen it but IIRC that was either shot on some kind of digital camera much like Cloverfield (another load of shite) or had a lot of digital processing to change the look
rather than standard 35mm film so the improvement is not the same as it is on regular movies

No Country For Old Men is the best looking film I have on Blu-Ray. Resevoir Dogs is one to avoid though (not the film itself, which is fantastic).

WALL-E is released on the 24th, and I'm sure this will look a treat as well.

I've heard a hell of a lot of buzz about this film. So much so that I'm thinking about getting it myself. People on IMDB are raving about it too.

Briiliant film for both young and old. Saw it in the cinema with my 13 year old daughter and 82 year old mother and we all loved it.
