What film is this?

All I can remember is that the whole film is like a newscast about a comet/meteor hitting Earth. The film enRAB with a terrified newsreader and then the screen goes black.

Any ideas?
 
Could be wrong, but there was a made for TV movie made back in '83 that showed a few times on UK TV called 'Special Bulletin'.

It was done in the style of an actual on-location news report, though the plot involved terrrorists hijacking nuclear weapons.

But at the end, there was a lone reporter on a boat, and the bomb did go off blacking out the screen.

Quiteb effective for it's day, but it would not look as concvincing today.
