What extent do you think the power of the US Supreme Court in recent decades has...

...been good or bad for in USA? In Federalist #78, Alexander Hamilton predicted that the US Supreme Court might be the weakest of the three branches of government. Few people today would agree with that assessment, partly because the Court adopted one of Hamilton’s remedies, the power to do judicial review of federal laws. To what extent do you think the strength of the US Supreme Court in recent decades has been good or bad for the United States? Be sure to give examples of decisions the Court has made to back up your argument.

Bad as in Roe V Wade. The consequences of that wrong decision has cost millions their lives.

One has to see the Court as a governing body. Technically, we need something like the Supreme court in order to survive, however, in recent years i feel that the court has failed us. The top two reasons being:

The 2000 election. We STILL don't know who won the election to this day due to the fact that we weren't allowed to finish our recount. In the end, the Supreme Court decided that we had passed the deadline of how long we had to count the votes, declaring G W Bush the president of the United States. He was thus not an elected official, but an appointed one.

Partial Birth Abortion. This sounds nasty, however, the ban did not leave exceptions. Many women (particularly older women) have serious complications with their pregnancies late in the term. Due to this ban, a women 6 or 7 months along could be forced to carry a dead or dying baby. A baby she knows won't live more than a day past birth if at all.

There are several other issues however the main point would be that they've become too uneducated not to mention old governing body.

good as far as some past decisions like Roe V. Wade and prosecution of those who will not take their child to a hospital, but think that prayers alone will heal them. The court said that "Parents have a right to make martyrs out of themselves, but not their children"!

Worst decision was intervening in the 2000 election. They had no business involved in a presidential race, especially when all but 2 were Republicans!

Also upholding sending AMERICANS of Japanese Ancestry to concentration camps in the US, stealing there lands, orchards and homes! Later they reversed themselves but the damage was already done!

I think the Supreme court is the weakest. As we have seen, the government can pass all the unconstitutional laws they want, and it will take years to get them challenged!
