I'm a freshman in high school and it's my first year running track and my coaches haven't taught me much about block starts. I currently run a 12.5 in the 100 m and I'm trying to cut it down to a 12 flat. I want to be able to make varsity my sophomore year. What exercises can I do to help me explode off the blocks and shorten my 100/200 m dash times? I currently do some plyometrics with weights. For example, lunge jumps with a bench bar over my shoulders. I do 2 sets of 25 reps and 1 set of 30 without the bar. Will this help my speed or should I not use the extra weight? Thank you.
