What exactly is happening with the crisis in Georgia?

How are all the countries involved? We have Georgia, Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia all fighting. Why did this crisis start, and what sort of human rights issues are being faced in Georgia now?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a bit confused about the whole thing.
