...influential in modern times? ? How we view human nature, what angers us in foreign/domestic politics, how we view the role in government. How much of that stems from the enlightenment?
The United States specifically is a product of enlightenment thought in Britain and France. It stills holds on to these ideas by idealizing the "Forefathers" that started the country, and still continues to hold onto a Lockean sense of Liberalism.
