This is weird.
Okay here's what happened. I have two hard drives on my computer. One is about five years old(from about late 2005/early 2006) and the second is about a few months old(bought it last December)
On my old hard drive I have Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006 but the old hard drive was starting to crash. So I went out and bought a new hard drive, installed windows XP on it and transferred my data from one drive to the other.
Now here's where it gets strange. The Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006 exist on my old drive but not on my new one. ODD STUFF!!!
1. I don't remember EVER buying it, EVER!!!
2. I assumed it was already on my Windows XP disk. I saw it when I installed it onto the new hard drive. (during installation the PC specifically showed the different components being installed)
3. Yet somehow it's not on the new hard drive at all!!! (
)
4. I'm looking to download/re-install but it cost 35$(again I don't remember ever purchasing this program, so why would I pay for it now?)
5. And I never downloaded it for free either. I remember it always being on my computer from day one. Weird!!! (O_O)
So here's my questions.
A. Did Microsoft discontinue the Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006?
B. If so is there a way to still get a version of it for free?
C. Or should I just go ahead and buy the 35$ version? Although...
D. If they discontinued it. How can they NOW sell us something that was apparently FREE at one point or Am I missing something?
E. Is there a way to transfer it directly from the old hard drive to the new one? (both hard drives are operating but the older one does slowdown/crash a lot)
F. If none of these work. What photo editing programs are out there that are almost a mirror image of Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006? (that are free to download) And when I say a mirror image I mean a photo editing program that's almost EXACTLY LIKE Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006!!!
And I mean almost EXACTLY THE SAME!!!(no exceptions) I used Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006 for years and years and years for nearly 1000 pictures and I loved all the controls, features and user friendly interface. So you can't suggest any. It has to be some photo editor so good and so similar to Microsoft Digital Image starter edition 2006. That I'd barely be able to tell the difference.
Thank you so much everyone for all your help.
Peace.
