What engine can I put into my 1997 Mazda MPV to increase fuel efficiency and/or power?

Which do u want...u cant have both..u get power an ur efficiency drops....raise ur efficiency an ur power drops...pick a happy median
 
I'm pretty sure there are better 3.0 liter V6's out there with better mileage than 15 City / 19 Highway.
 
is not the engine the problem, is what the engine have to pull, you are driving an almost 4 ton car

but at this time after 11 years of use the engine loose compression and that is one reason why the fuel millage drops, so if you rebuild your engine will get the correct compression so hp will raise and of course mpg will have to improve too
