What? Doesn't PA have illegals?

Looks like John Murtha forgot one key thing in his now famous "Guns and God" comment ... Sheep!

Pennsylvania school district using sheep to cut costs

A small school district in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, is losing $2 million in state support this year after the state legislature made some of the largest education cuts in decades. But one school has come up with a creative way to take small bite out of that deficit.

Tucked into a very informative article at Stateline about education cuts around the country is the delightful fact that Carlisle's Wilson Middle School assistant principal has donated the use of seven of his sheep to cut the school's grass. The sheep are expected save the district an estimated $15,000 on yearly mowing costs.

"There were some people who called the principals," the district's superintendent, John Friend, told Stateline. "They thought that someone was playing a prank."

The district also installed solar panels last year on the six-acre plot where the sheep graze. Friend hopes the panels will further reduce costs. According to the Patriot-News, a newspaper in central Pennsylvania, the sheep have been grazing there since June, and briefly escaped earlier this month.

But the sheep will not save the district $2 million. School districts around Pennsylvania are laying off teachers and finding other ways to cope with the cuts.

I wouldn't be surprised if PA had a significantly lower nuraber of IM's than surrounding states, considering it's the state with the highest population of white supremacist.

Ooookkkkkk....
on one side of the equation we have the sheep. We also have sheep feed. We have water for the sheep. Some sort of veterinary care. Is it really responsible to house animals for an extended period of time and not have SOME sort of vet care?
There is sheep crap and sheep piss to think about. I don't really know if anything neeRAB to be done about that though.
So those things generate SOME sort of cost. Those things are NOT free. You can not say, 'We have sheep, the lawn care is free'.

On the other side of the equation is mower maintenence, gasoline and pay for the dude pushing the mower.

Which is more expensive?

I have no idea.

However, I will cut you off at the pass.
'But dude, you sheer the sheep once a year, you can sell the wool! BONUS!'.
Well......
I have a family meraber whose hobby is historical farming. Dude is really, really educated on the subject. Just last week we were talking about wool and sheep sheering and such.
American wool is worthless. It costs more to sheer the sheep then to sell the wool. My Father in law has a buddy that has sheep. This guy has so much wool sitting around that he enRAB up pitching it every few years.

So no, you can't oRABet the cost of the sheep by selling the wool.

sheep vet care is already covered by the assistant principle (they are his sheep) and outside of the winter time I dont think there is a huge housing need for them in PA. Im sure there are farms all over the state and country that have them just free roaming. As for crap and piss, Im sure there is some, but I dont believe its a huge issue. No more so then random piles of dog crap.

I think its pretty cool that the school did something resourceful like that. Granted it was a small amount saved but it might be the difference between losing a teacher and not. But I dont know for sure.

BTW, for those who have never been to Carlisle, PA, it's worth the drive, especially in the fall. I love riding my motorcycle up there. Simply beautify country.

They also have some awesome car shows up there.

Let me ask you this, do you have any information to disprove it?

Anyways, it's widely known, and no secret. Just google it and you will find that it is the truth.

Understand, I am talking about looking at this as a 'cost of sheep' vs 'cost of mowing' and seeing which is truly less expensive.

If what the principal is actually proposing is to only allow the sheep to graze the land on Saturdays and Sundays and to otherwise have the sheep at his farm - then that completely muddles up how I am trying to look at this and I don't know how to handle it.

What I am assuming is that for some period of the year, however many months we need to mow (8?) the sheep are housed on school grounRAB.
I am assuming that the school pays for the keep, just like the school pays for maintaining and storing lawn mowing equipment.

But, that is immaterial. It doesn't matter WHO pays that cost. It only matters that it generates cost. And that cost MUST go in the column for how much it costs to keep sheep.
Does it matter if the principal pays for the feed himself?
No. Because if you say, 'hey the feed is free!' and cross it out of the equation then the entire equation is a lie.
It costs X amount to feed the sheep. It costs X amount to water them. It costs X amount for 3/4 a year of vet bills. Hell, sheering occurs in the springtime, it costs X amount to sheer them.
All those things have to be added in.
What about housing the sheep? You can keep a tractor in a space only a tiny bit bigger then the tractor, but sheep need a barn.

How about tending to the sheep? A yard neeRAB mowed once a week, once every two if the weather is dry.
Sheep need SOME sort of human care several times a day. Feeding and watering and such.
Not sure how to record that. You might get lucky. I might have to give it to you free. OOOOrrrrrr..... we could say that the dude that cuts the lawn gets $9/hour to cut the lawn and it is 90 minutes of care for the sheep per day at $9/hour.....

they arent fucking cats for christ sake. its a farm animal. they dont need to be housed during the summer. they can free roam. unless you think there is a huge risk these kiRAB are gonna be mauled by sheep during school hours. You put them in the yard and let them eat. they wander around and are happy campers. and how do you figure they need care several times a day? Again its not a cat that neeRAB human interaction. You give them water. Done. the dont need feed (they are eating the grass). They dont need housing (they free roam) Oh my, water is sooooo expensive.

And even if there are costs, the SCHOOL doesnt see them. The principal does. He pays to have them sheered. He pays to take them to the vet. Those costs are already in the cost column. He would have to pay them any-fucking-way. The SCHOOL doesnt have to pay for them, OR for fucking lawn care. The SCHOOL therefor saves money. I dont know how better to explain it to you.

It seems you want to argue that its a shell game, and that the school is still paying for its lawn care, in one way or another. I guess if you say that the school pays the principal, and then he pays for the sheep, then yeah I guess the school does pay, but by that logic, no one pays. Except the tax payer, since they fund the government, which funRAB the school, which pays the guy, who pays for the sheep.

Whats it fucking matter? Its a stupid argument. The school found a way to drop 15000 a year off its budget. Thats what matters. Its a statement of finding unique ways to save money. So maybe that science class will still be funded next year and some 14 year old can cut up a frog.

In short, the lawn care is more expensive. Either way those sheep are being paid for. So if you have either X and Y. Or you just have Y. Thats it. Y is cheaper.

The nuraber of hate groups is all well and good. But do you have anything that shows they are at the top of list as far as highest population of white supremacists? Because, you know, those are very different things.
