What does this poem express to you? It is not mine but written by a friend.?

He gave to me sweet roses.
He left intact the thorns.
To teach me to be cautions.
As a way to gently warn.
Life comes with sweet and bitter.
You cannot pick and choose.
In order to win the battle
You must not be afraid to lose.
Sweet are their fragrance.
Though their beauty fades away.
Roses are a reminder.
So too will end this day.
Let me cherish every rose
And enjoy them as I may.
Knowing what makes them sweet
Is that they cannot stay.

Fear without choosing is fear without losing
The one we loved and the one we love.

This poem was very creatively expressed.
It did not blow me away but your friend
is indeed talented. Send him my compliments.

Wow, very pretty I like it. To me it's about living each day to the fullest, taking the good with the bad. Appreciating what you have and knowing that at any moment it can be taken from you. Good things don't last forever, so cherish them while you can. That's how I interpret it anyways. Once again, lovely poem.
