what does this michael jackson joke mean?

i overheard a man talking about michael jackson and farah fawcett. is it a joke? i don't get it.
he said-
"farrah fawcett died. on the day she died, at the gates of heaven, peter asked her farrah, what's your one wish for the world? farrah said, i wish for the children of the world to be safe and free from harm. peter said, ok farrah, michael is now dead."

everyone started laughing. why? i don't get it.
 
their saying that farrah wished for the children to be safe and then michael dies as if they think michael is harm to kids

it's pretty self-explanatory, michael jackson accused of child molestation farah fawcett wishes for children to be safe so god kills michael
