Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams,
For when dreams go,
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow

that was the poem. what does "life is a barren field" mean? what is a barren field anyway?

Omfg our class read and talked about this poem about a month ago.
Anyways it means that life is empty besides what you put in it, and stuff like that.

The line means that life is empty without dreams. And a barren field is empty. Usually how you describe a winter, which explains the line, 'Frozen with snow.'
