Here's something for you! Hope ot helps......
Rightly or wrongly, to those who have read bits of the bible it SEEMS obvious that the apple is "the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil". It is a commonly held belief that fruit there is refering to an apple and that part of it got stuck in Adam's throat [Adam's apple].
The apple now has come to represent dangerous knowledge or in this case dangerous feelings.
this poem is not to be taken literally. it does not mean that the narrator grew an apple tree. there was no real apple. they are symbols fot wrath. remember, "my wrath did grow." it meant that the wrath WAS the tree and the wrath grew by becoming him angrier. he didn't discuss it with his foe and then the foe wanted to apoligize but the narrator acted on inctinct and killed him. when he finally came to his senses, his foe was dead.
