What does my car have to do?

I have a 2004 Mazda 3. My engine light has been on for a while, and now i have to get my e-check...thats an automatic failure. So i find the problem, fix it, and now everything seems to be running properly. I need to get my e-check done so i can renew my registration...so i'm impatient, so instead of waiting for the CEL to turn off by itself i unplug the battery to turn it off (not realizing, that it will clear my computer)...what i didn't know was that if the computer is cleared, it takes a drive cycle or whatever to reset itself so that the e-check people can read it......Finally, my question is, what is the drive cycle for my car....and/or.....what do i have to do to get my car readable for the e-check people?
