what does it say about me if im willing to lay myself on the line..?

for someone who has the capability to cut me down so deep i'd want to end my life? the logical thing would be to avoid a person with that power, right? what does that say about me as a person if I continue to allow that person into my life and i continue opening my heart to them? does that mean im weak? or I dont value myself enough to protect myself?
