What does it mean when someone wants to give you the Book of Mormon?

I read somewhere that it means something special or significant if someone wants to give you the book of mormon. But I could be mistaken. Someone, a Mormon, offered it to my sister and I want to know what that could mean. If it means he thinks she needs religion or if it's something important to him.
