what does it mean when it says "C-error" on the radio?

I have a benz and after fixing some mechanical problem in my car, i tried turning on my radio and it read "C-error". I tried entering the code, but it wouldnt let me. I was wondering what does that specifically mean? Is there something i need to do first before i put the code?? any ideas, i would greatly appreciate it! thanks!
