what does it mean when green dots form on your fish tank?

alright had my fish tank for awhile now like 5 months and its a freshwater 20 gal. with five small fish and ive noticed lately that some very small green dots have started to appear on the tank glass what exactly is this and what do i do????

my thoughts are that it might be some type of algae build up??????????
 
yes... it is most likely algae.

go to your local pet store and see if they have special fish glass cleaners or some kind of liquid algae killer
