It's normal for older cars to do that, It is possible that the seal got old and broke but it wont affect the performance of your car at all. You can go to a mechanic shop and ask around but you will just spend a lot of money on something that isn't necessary if what I'm assuming is the case.

Severe white smoke means you are burning coolant/water. You have a blown head gasket or warped/cracked head.

White smoke means water or coolant , Blue Smoke means Oil, Black smoke means raw fuel. It sounds like you have a bad cylinder head gasket. Did you over heat your car? Check your coolant level and check your oil dipstick. You can either see what looks like a chocolate milky substance on the oil dipstick that is a sign of a bad head gasket and or if the coolant looks like it has oil in it this is also a sign of a bad head gasket. Either way it is not cheap to fix. And you can destroy your motor if you don't fix it.

if this happens at start up and gos away its bad valve seals. if it keeps smoking you need a motor rebuild. it sounds like you have a broken oil ring on one or more of your pistons.
