what does it mean for a news article to be slanted?

Slanted would mean the article is not objective but instead shows a clear bias in one direction. If, from reading the article, you can tell what the journalist's opinion is, it is slanted.

Good taste would be objective, with no bias.
 
when news is "slanted" it means that personal opinions or feelings have made there way into the reporting rather than just the facts.

good taste is good taste, no matter where it appears.
