Well, Allah strongly condemns mishievous people, and if you tell the person a twisted story, then you are creating mischief. Also, Allah dislikes those who cause problems between people and praises those who try to make peace between them so long as they do not have hidden intentions behind this.

Obviously the guy who called Islam twisted has never read a proper translation of Qu'ran and seems pretty ignorant of the religion aside from the less than 0.1% of terrorists who were actually encouraged and created by the US in the Afghan war (US funded the most extremist groups over moderate ones since it believed the most extremist groups would fight Russia better). Look at all the terrorists which have only arisen in the past 50 years, and you'll see most of the are Afghan veterans.

If twisting includes changing facts that's lying, so here's huge sin number one, prophet muhammad said a man would lie and keep on lying until he's counted as liar in the eyes of God and he goes to hell.
Second, if he tells other people bad things to create problems (fitnah) between you and them , that's huge sin number two (even if those things were true), Namimah, and in the Quran Allah told us that it's a very ugly sin as ugly as eating the flesh of your own dead brother!! So you can imagine that that's a ticket straight to hell unless they repent of course and fix what they have broken
