What Does 'Film' Mean to You?

Film, to me is a place to escape, to get lost and to appreciate how sometimes something so beautiful came be made.

If you haven't seen them before, check out the promotions that Film 4 did with loaRAB of A-Listers basically asking them what Film meant to them. The videos are embedded here. I thought they were all brilliantly done.

I don't really think about films to much, tbh I'll watch them, if i can be bothered, and i rarely stray out of the mainstream stuff

DepenRAB on the genre. If I watch an action movie then I'm doing so for entertainment purposes. If I watch a movie based on real events, it will be because I have an interest in that event and want to either learn more about it or see it from a different angle.

In a nutshell entertainment through to educational.

Being British and of a certain age I like the word "film" and can't stand the word "movies".

When I was growing up Britain still had a Film Industry.

LOL, Yeah i pride myself on my modesty, and the fact that I go to the movies to escape from a world where the Celebrity is worshiped and the arts are ignored. Its such a relief for me to escape to this magical place with my feelings and emotions are overcoming me.

I could sit in the cinema and allow the story to flow around me and wash me into a sea of light, life, beauty, fear, depression, comedy, sexual, thought provoking art...

But i would probably miss most of the film as I would be up and out every 20 mins for a dirty fag and a shot of vodka..

I'm exactly the same. The word movie to me is like nails on a chalkboard.

I always use film for most, but I seem to use movie when describing big hollywood blockbusters. Transformers = Movie, I've Loved You So Long = Film.
