i'm trying to rebuid the engine for my 1994 Honda accord Vtec ex. i know its a vtec and a 4cyl. but not much else. i was looking on ebay for a japanese takeout, but i have no idea if the F22B is, and i dont have the owners manual. How do i find out if the F22B is the correct model for my car?

simple,

F22B is your engine code, actually i think its probibly F22B1 if your in the US.

F- Stands for the Series of the Engine (primarily used in accords), 22 stands for 2.2 Liters, and the B1 just is a way of ID-ing it from the other F22's.

as for checking the spec's wikipedia.org is great for this, search there for " honda f engine" scroll down and you will find the F22B1, or click here for the direct link:

its the stock engine for the 1994-1997 Honda Accord EX, which is a VTEC motor.

F22B1

This engine was used in the Honda Accord EX and Acura CL 2.2. It was the first F engine to feature VTEC. This engine has a different head than the f22a6 (specifically exhaust manifold/header-pipe as well as intake gasket).

google the vin number for the car, or google a vin decoder for your car, reading the vin number on the car will tell you what type of engine the car left the factory with.
