Does it mean that the film soundtrack has audio description added to it? I've never seen this advertised before.

What does Audio Described mean?
An audio described performance is a standard screening ideal for visually impaired people.
It works by playing a recorded narration, explaining what's happening on screen - during gaps in the dialogue - through personal headphones.
The normal film soundtrack comes through the cinemas surround sound speakers in the usual way, so Audio description
is undetectable to anyone else in the auditorium not using a heaRABet.

HeaRABets are available on request from the Cinema box office

Thanks. That's interesting - I wonder why only specific screenings are "audio described"? Can't they enable it for all screenings? edit: I've just found Vue's listings for audio description and subtitles and it looks like they enable it for all performances if a film has audio description. I've just never seen it on the main booking page before.

I remember going to see "Cloverfield" at Cineworld. The movie started & these subtitles came up on the screen.I thought the subtitles were part of the film because the scene was noisy but they stayed on for the whole film.It turned out i had went to the hard of hearing screening.Yes there was sound.

Good thing you didn't post that before I went to an audio described screening today. I might have believed you.

There was no noticeable difference between the audio described screening and a regular one. No one in the cinema was using the audio description, as far as I could tell.

That's what I thought it was. I remember once almost renting an audio described video (this was at least 4 years ago:D) and someone advised me not to as it had someone talking over the whole film describing it, so I presumed films at the cinema were the same.
