What does an increase in average guest check imply about a restaurant?

-Does it imply increased prices?
-Does it imply bigger groups of people going to dinner (getting together b/c of economic recession?)
-Does it simply mean that c.o.g.s. is increased?

-or is it obviously just a combination of all these things...
