What does a year of biology mean (University)?

For example: For medical school, you must have two years of biological sciences, 2 years of organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry and one year of physical sciences, does "One year" refer to one credit(course)? And also, is is possible to get your prerequisites to medical school through a B.scN. Thank you.

Example:
two years of biology courses = 4 biology courses since each one is half a semester and you would need 4 to total two years.

For my school anyway.
And as far as the prereqs, most would be covered under your major if you chose to be a biology major, as well as your chemistry credits needed.
