what does 50watts X 4 mean when buying an aftermarket radio?

does it mean 50 watts by the amount of speakers in the car? I have a dodge intrepid with the 6 speaker sound system that includes the 2 factory tweeters in the front. the left side speakers are playing lower then the right. Is the new aftermarket radio not capable of powering six speakers?
 
It simple means that each channel (4) is getting 50 watts of power, but that is peak, your going to want to look at the rms wattage. Peak means nothing in audio. The after market stereo is more powerful than your stock stereo. You really should not have the problem that your haveing. It sounds like there is something wrong with the speakers, unless if there is something not wired correctly.
