What do you think would happen to world history if Hitler did not exist?

I think that Wold War II still would have happened. For one thing, Japan was still there, and regardless of whether Hitler was around or not, they would still have had expansive, aggressive policies in the 30s.

Also, Hitler wasn't the founder of the Nazi Party, he was just the most talented politically (apparently he was a brilliant speaker, though every time I see clips of him it just sounds like angry shouting because I don't understand German). It is entirely possible that the Nazis could still have risen in the power vacuum that existed in Germany in the late 20s.

So I think that there still would have been war, though possibly not as horrible as it was under Hitler.
 
Well, most likely there wouldnt have been a world war 2. No Holocaust, and millions of people would not have lost their lives. Also now, the skinheads are inspired by hitler..and the kkk too, so if there was no hitler then maybe people wouldnt have got an idea of this "white supremacy"?
The whole WORLD would be different!

If Hitler had not existed, Germany would not have recovered from the depression when it did. And likely the USSR would have invaded Eastern Europe, triggering WW2 with themselves as the enemy instead of an Ally. With Germany unprepared for war it would have been a fairly easy conquest, and France and England would have been even less ready they were historically without the growing threat from Germany.

So, likely Russia would have conquered most of Europe, with the possible exception of England. Russia would not have declared war on the USA after Pearl Harbour, and the USA might have stayed out of the war in Europe to deal exclusively with Japan.

So, in the end, the war would still have happened, just not the same way.
 
It's hard to tell. People like to think that Hitler's evil was unique, but the only thing new about the holocaust was it's systematic nature. Genocide has gone on throughout history--in fact, Stalin's pogroms killed more jewish people than Hitler's camps.

Part of the problem is the unpredictable nature of changing history (butterfly effect and all of that). I read a sci-fi story where they time travelled and slipped an evil dictator's mother a birth-control laced drink--which meant that the evil dicator wasn't born, and his country got into a major war that destroyed the planet, while the dictator's version of the country had been isolated by the other world powers and wasn't involved, so the war didn't escalate to that point.

Back to reality. Germany had to rise again--Woodrow Wilson failed to get a real peace settlement out of WWI, so that was just a matter of time. The great depression had gone on so long that someone had to start something. I almost think that the only difference would be that concentration camps wouldn't have been invented. Anything else I'd say is a guess--maybe the USSR doesn't join the allies against Germany because Germany isn't as serious a threat, so they become allied with the PRC much ealier, or something like that.
