...motorcycle if I added a sidecar? I was looking at Cozy sidecars, which are pretty light. I think, around 200 lb. I'm just looking to hit around 50 to 60 mph.
Top speed will not be affected. What will change is handling, for obvious reasons and acceleration due to additional weight. You will want to change the gearing to increase your acceleration, since top speed is not an issue.
Well since the side car is not lifted by the bike, but rather has its own wheel (s) and such it should not affect the top speed very much at all. The only possiblity is wind drag. Depending on where you live wind drag could make it impossible to get above 40 (windy conditions and heavy air).
Personally I would never add a sidecar to any bike beneath a 650cc
