What do you think of this reflection?

I was asking a question yesterday, basically comparing God to Santa Claus, arguing essentially that when the idea of a big, jolly protector is no longer logically viable, that we adults simply redefine God in a very nebulous way, giving Him all kind of strange and magical attributes. One of the respondents included this quote

"Trying to prove the existence of god with the bible is like trying to prove the existence of Superman with a comic book."

Now, I realize the main argument that Christians will forward is that the Bible was "God inspired", whereas a comic book was not. However, as a human living thousands of years after the authorship of the Bible, how can we really know that? If one looks at the Bible in a disinterested way, it seems to me just as fantastic, if not more so, than any comic book.
